Haryana stops production of cough syrups linked to deaths in Gambia

The Haryana authorities has ordered to absolutely halt the manufacturing of cough syrups at Sonipat-based organisation Maiden Pharmaceuticals Limited.

The organisation has also been issued a show cause note for 12 violations observed at its manufacturing plant.

Health minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said, "The samples of three tablets of the Sonipat-primarily based pharmaceutical agency which were mentioned through WHO, have been sent to Central Drug Laboratory in Kolkata. 

The pharma organisation had come below scanner following the dying of 66 kids who had ate up the cough syrup in The Gambia.

The organisation became issued a display purpose be aware on October 7 after a joint inspection with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. 

The note to the pharma agency said that manufacturing and expiry dates have been lacking on the certificates of analysis of certain batches of propylene glycol.
